Product Description

Mullein flowers, Verbascum thapsus, is a member of the scrophulariaceae. Its tall flowering spike was used by Roman legionnaires as a candle wick, by dipping the whole stem in wax. The candles would be used during funerals. This practice was also said to be used by witches covens, leading to the common name ‘hags taper’. The leaves can be used as a ceremonial alternative to white sage. Not only people find mullein useful; Gerard discussed its use as a treatment for cattle against ‘the cough of the lungs’., calling it Bullocks Lungwort. Magically, Mullein is associated with courage, inspiration, love, health, spiritual contact and protection during shadow work and astral projection. It is also said to bring protection against wild animals and evil spirits, as well as nightmares.

Mullein is native to Europe. It grows as a herbaceous perennial, with hairy leaves and yellow flowers growing on a large spike. Both the leaves and flowers can be used.

Key natural constituents of Mullein flowers are:
Mucilage, saponins including mulleinsaponins, Flavonoids including verbascoside and rutin, iridoid glycosides, polysaccharides, resins, volatile oils and lignans.

This product contains dried flowers.
